Ilana has spent the last ten years building backend systems in Java and a myriad of other languages and frameworks before deciding the most interesting problem in tech right now isn't writing code — it's teaching machines to think alongside us. That's the idea behind WiseLlama: good development has always been a teaching job, and AI just raised the stakes.
WiseLlama is the result — a studio that builds exceptional software and AI solutions, including an AI teammate aimed at carrying out our own work and our clients' work at the same standard, conveniently and quickly.
When she's not building, Ilana's usually out on a mountain trail near her home in Swellendam, drinking good wine with her partner-in-life by the braai, or arguing with one of her three cats about who's really in charge.
On AI, done responsibly
We use AI because it makes us faster and more capable — not because it's a shortcut around doing the work properly. Rules and restrictions are always applied (like with human employees) and responsibilities should be shared as a team. We believe in Anthropic's integrity and ethical stance and this is why we choose Claude for our ventures. It's also why we trust Airyn, and we are confident that our clients will too.
